Cranial Sacral Massage uses light pressure, less than 5 grams, to help promote the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid through the central nervous system, and improve bone mobility within the cranium, vertebral column, and sacrum. ( Find a massage therapist )The movement of these bones and fluid through the cranial sacral system work in harmony through what is know as the cranial rhythm. This natural rhythm varies throughout the day from 6 to 12 cycles per minute.
Proper circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) throughout the cranial sacral system is essential to optimum health. The CSF serves as a 'shock absorber' to protect the brain from injury caused by rapid movements of the head. It also provides a means to deliver vital nutrients to the brain, spinal chord, pineal gland, and pituitary, as well as a way to remove waste products and toxins. CSF is found within the dural membranes of the cranium, vertebrae, and sacrum.
When the bones of the cranial sacral system block the nerve passages the natural cranial rhythms become unbalanced, and out of sync. CSF no longer circulates properly, and symptoms begin to manifest themselves within the body as tension, inflammation, and pain. After receiving a Cranial Sacral Therapy treatment many of our clients experience relief from:
- Migraine Headaches
- Chronic Pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Stress
- Tension
- Fatigue
Cranial Sacral massage can restore balance within your body by relieving the nerve blockages through gentle touch. This light massage relaxes the mind, relieves muscle tension, and unlocks your bodies natural ability to heal itself. Clients can remain fully clothed while laying comfortably on a massage table. Your massage therapist will place their hands under your head and sacrum and press using light pressure to manipulate the CSF pathways. We are trained to listen to the subtle, rhythmic messages from the body, and taylor each session to your specific needs. Click here to Find a massage therapist.
